OFFICER REPORTS

Commodore:  The hoist broke, so we have been talking to the city about fixing it. It is the contract for them to repair it.  We have also asked the city for a more robust dock repair.

Vice Commodore: No capsizes at open houses this year. There are some budgetary issues and we will need to tighten our belt to make it until the end of the year. We may start asking for $20 for the Fast Track to go to food. Today there were 309 guests at Open House and there were 239 guests at the previous open house. Alyssa Singer is piloting a new project to capture signups from the Open House.

Rear Commodore: Lessons on demand are relaunched. And it appears that we have a fast track coordinator lined up for the last fast track- Lonnie (at which point Lonnie, who was eating dinner in the meeting, accidentally broke his fork).

Port Captain: A new day leader has been hired- Brenden. He will be training again on Wednesday and Friday should be his first shift. We need more day leaders and VDLS (voluntary day leaders). There was a temporary work study issue with UC Berkeley but it is being resolved.

Secretary: We received the AED from Health Education Services (HES) a bit prematurely. The issue of getting a cabinet with an alarm was raised and HES has offered to provide one at a nominal amount, of about $6. Additionally, the issue was raised of possibly getting a refurbished AED. I researched this and there was about a $300 difference. I decided it was worth it to keep the new AED. I also like the idea of using HES because it is the AED service provider for UC Berkeley and Cal Adventures.

Treasurer: [Stella]

Notes on actual income and spending this year vs budget:

  • Membership dues income continues to be on track with expectations (built into current budget) of a $10k decrease compared to last year, continuing slide from previous years.

  • Dayleader budget will likely need to be increased due to higher wages and lack of work study.

  • Activities budget (includes teaching expenses) will also likely need to be increased due to cost of 1st aid seminars and other activities.

  • Dinghy budget could be reduced given current spending compared to budgeted amounts.
